Four Reasons why your cat sitter may 'fire' you as a client

People are usually surprised when I tell them I had to ‘fire’ a client.  I have to explain that providing a service is a two way street and I do occasionally have to tell people I will no longer provide service to them. I don’t enjoy doing it, but sometimes there is just no way around it. I provide a bespoke service and want only the very best for your cat(s) and expect that you do as well.

  1. Not adhering to policies. I can assure you that I have policies for a reason and they are all based on fifteen years experience. I want to make sure everything runs smoothly and there are no misunderstandings. When someone disrespects my policies, they disrespect my service.
  2. Too many non-cat sitting demands. I am a cat sitter. I take care of cats and I expect that to be the reason you hired me. I am not a cleaning person or gardener. Please don’t ask me to vacuum your carpets or water your outdoor plants.
  3. Job Sharing. If you have a friend, relative, or neighbour coming to ‘just check on the cat’ I will not accept the job. This is not safe for your home, cat, or me. By allowing other people in your home you are putting me in danger.
  4. Cats not cared for properly/filthy home. Very rarely I do come across a situation where the cat is not cared for up to my standard or the home is so unsanitary as to be a health hazard.
